Cultivating Youth in Ulumba, Malawi

If we want to have our next generation to be different from the current one, we must focus on the youth. This is God’s way of  doing things.

The Bible mentions how God had a new generation  that were brought out of the bondage in Egypt. Over a period of about forty years God taught  the children of Israel. The previous generation was unable to get into the “Promised Land, except Caleb and Joshua who believed God’s word. They walked by faith and not by sight (2Cor 5:7).  They were not deceived by the appearance of the obstacles in front of them.

At Wisdoms-house.com, we are targeting the young people and we are training them to use the Word of God as guide to cultivate life skills.

Pastor Wiskie encouraged the Ulumba youth with the importance of learning from the Lord by memorizing (Ps 119:11) and applying the Holy Scriptures (Ps 1:1-6). He shared with the youth how  God valued the young generation by letting them know God has a special message to them, since they are strong and they will overcome:

“I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name’s sake. (1Jn 2:12)

I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, children, because you know the Father. (1Jn 2:13)

I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one. ”(1Jn 2:14)

God gave some clues to explain how these youths are strong and overcome.  God said because His word abides in them, He can help us to be  strong by standing firm for the Truth.  We must rid ourselves of every destructive youthful lust (1Cor 6:18, 2 Tim 2:22-24).

Our advocates at Wisdoms-house.com in Zomba, Malawi encourage  this young  generation to be in position to stand for the truth. We encourage them not to be conformed to the pattern of this world.  Instead, they are  to be transformed by renewing their minds with the Holy scriptures, as Romans 12:1-2 said.

Geoffrey said to the youth the most important point to understand is that God’s road to redemption is just like it was for Joshua (1Cor 10:1-13).  We can not deny that we are in the times whereby the world is promoting “the instance of things”,  like instant food, instant money transfer, quick transport.  We have many people teaching us and showing us things always have to be faster. But, we should know that progress in Christian life is not instant.  We grow in stages  or seasons (Ps 1:1-6, Jer 17:7-8, 1Cor 10:1-13) . We stick to the vision God has given us, no matter how many delays we may face.  Geoffrey encouraged the Ulumba youth to hold on as we are following the necessary steps in spiritual growth.

Mr. Way, the Ulumba youth leader, also encouraged the Ulumba youth group that we should hold on and work together with the team to achieve better results.

The team agreed to keep on moving forward with the plans of hiring a piece of land and  with the plans to cultivate one another with spiritual training and life skills.  God has  already opened a door for us.   We have identified  the land to be used. We are  trusting God for the provisions to do so.
